Traditions

“The days are long, but the years are short,” is a common quote shared on the social media pages of parents around the United States, and we agree! A year at The Children’s Center at Mulberry is packed with time-honored traditions, yet we still innovate and pivot to keep education fresh for our students and teachers alike.

August is the start of our school year after moving children up the ladder as they are ready to progress. We celebrate the anniversary of the opening of The Children's Center at Mulberry every year in August just like our children celebrate their own birthdays…with cake (and presents)!

From August right through May, students engage in carefully curated classroom experiences that expose them to valuable life lessons. In the fall, they celebrate the holidays with Halloween costume parades and trick-or-treating, Thanksgiving donation drives, and special meals along with MSUMC’s annual Fall Festival. Students also meet and honor community helpers, including firemen and policemen, when they pay a visit to The Children's Center at Mulberry. We close out the calendar year celebrating Christmas and Cookies with Santa and making keepsake Christmas ornaments, which are still some of our alumni families’ most treasured possessions!

Winter calls for celebrating love and a little American history while the spring brings Dr. Seuss Week, Easter chapel and egg hunts, and Week of the Young Child, as well as events to celebrate Mom and Dad where children get to share their school with the special adults in their lives. We also shower our teachers with love and appreciation before we prepare for 3K Graduation in May. We celebrate summer with Water Days, VBS, and other special events and enjoy special food treats!

Additionally, parent-teacher conferences are held throughout the year to discuss and monitor students’ progress. Parents are likewise invited to engage in their own unique activities throughout the year. We have offered Bible study for moms in the past as well as in-person parenting support groups. Families are also invited to participate in our peer-to-peer fundraising for The Children's Center at Mulberry as part of our Annual Fund drive, taking the opportunity tell the people in their networks why they choose The Children's Center at Mulberry for their children’s early education and why they choose to support us with charitable donations beyond their tuition commitment.
